The renowned actor Matt Damon, recognized for his varied roles in Hollywood, has appeared in an array of blockbuster movies over the course of his career. One of his most iconic roles is that of Jason Bourne in the Bourne film series, particularly in The Bourne Ultimatum.
Despite the movie’s action-packed sequences and suspenseful plot, it’s important to note that Matt Damon himself has concerns about showing this particular movie to his kids.
Why Matt Damon Does not Want his Kids to watch this Acclaimed Movie?
The third film in the Bourne series, The Bourne Ultimatum, was helmed by Paul Greengrass and is based on a book by Robert Ludlum. The film is known for its relentless action sequences and intense violence.
In an interview in Los Angeles with The Associated Press, the actor said,
“Every role I took, there’s always a special eye toward the violence. Violence is part of the human condition. The question is: Are you desensitizing people to violence by what you’re showing?”
Despite receiving considerable acclaim for his portrayal of Jason Bourne, Matt Damon has been open about his concerns about showing The Bourne Ultimatum to his kids, especially his daughters.
“Those are the kinds of things where I say, ‘Well, do I want my daughter exposed, knowing that her dad makes movies like this or that?’” Damon said.
He ensured that his children were not exposed to content that may be too intense or disturbing for their age.
Why did Matt Damon Leave the Bourne Franchise?
Matt Damon was the face of the Bourne franchise. The actor first played Jason Bourne in the 2002 movie The Bourne Identity and reprised this role in the following two movies, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.
The actor once revealed that he supposedly made the decision to leave the franchise as a consequence of Paul Greengrass’s decision to step down as the director of the movie.
“Paul’s got to go to work, you know? He’s ready to do another job, and it wasn’t the right job now. I get it. I wouldn’t do it without him but I don’t feel like he’s done with it totally. I think he’d change his mind if a good script came along. If there was a great Bourne idea, he would love to do it. It’s a big part of his life, too. We’re still going to keep working together — and hopefully on another Bourne movie too.”
The gritty, realistic action of The Bourne series was a great hit and had an impact on other franchises.
All 5 movies of the Bourne franchise are currently streaming on Prime Video.
