And with a resume that contains projects undertaken by the director, almost every single one of his creations has been nothing but smashing blockbusters. Therefore, when asked whether he would be able to make a film in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. came up with one of his usual quirky responses to hint that he might not be the right person to helm it.

Time after time, no matter how relatively simple or complex the subject has been, there hasn’t been a single film by legendary creator Christopher Nolan that hasn’t left a deep impact on the audience in history. No matter what the plot might be, the complex yet intriguing nature of the filmmaker’s narrative style has captured the hearts and minds of many, which has led to his meteoric rise in fame. After recently collaborating with the Iron Man star on his latest war/drama masterpiece Oppenheimer, the duo was on a promotion tour of the film. During this time, they also happened to get on an episode of WIRED’s The Web’s Most Searched Questions. Here, one of the questions in question was what would The Avengers have been like if the Dunkirk director had created it. While Nolan said that he would’ve used the least amount of CGI possible along with a whole lot of Tony Stark at the forefront, Downey Jr. said:

“If Christopher Nolan had directed The Avengers, we would still be shooting it.”

Playfully pointing to the director’s attention to the minutest of details and the wariness to the use of CGI in his films, the production would’ve stretched for many years. One thing to remember is that while he may not make an MCU film, he had previously made The Dark Knight trilogy, which is still regarded as one of the best superhero films in history.
