Not many are aware of the fact that Kaley Cuoco was almost left out of the cast of the show. The co-creator of TBBT, Chuck Lorre once said in an interview that before the start of the show, he was sure that Penny’s character was a robot.

“There was a moment where I thought perhaps the female character was an android that the guys built. We wrote a test scene and had a couple actors read the scene for us. And they were halfway through the scene when I went, ‘Never mind.'”

They wrote a test scene for an episode where the four main characters were performing a scene and he thought that Penny was a robot that the guys built.
