Zac Efron Had A Unique Experience With The Tribe Of Sepik River

When Zac Efron went to Papua New Guinea and lived with a local tribe for a while, he explained how the entire time he believed he was anonymous the entire time. However, the actor underestimated the fame High School Musical got him.

He explained how he lived with the tribe of Sepik River, they are known as the crocodile people because they live with the crocodiles of the Sepik River and worship them as their deity.

“So, we went out to this river where they’d go fishing or hunting to meet these crocodiles. They invited me along for the trip, so I was like, ‘Yeah, sure, let’s go. I’d love to check this out. This is going to be wild.’”

Efron explained how the tribe worshipped the crocodiles and saw them as their Gods. He elaborated how an entire group of them had submitted themselves to the river and had just been floating around, moving their hands around to feel the crocodiles around. The tribe waited for a crocodile to make contact with them and would then whistle as a signal to warn those next to them about the direction it was going towards. This in turn would help the tribe to eventually capture the crocodile altogether.
