"We were all in tears": Dave Bautista Feels He Ended His Marvel Journey in the Worst Possible Way, Recalls Final Moment With Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana

Dave Bautista has entertained audiences with his character Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy MCU films. Now, his time as the character has come to an end in the final film of the trilogy about space-bound outcasts. But the actor who has been vocal about wanting to do more dramatic roles isn’t totally happy about this. He is shedding tears thinking about the family he will have to say goodbye to once the movie is finally out.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Dave Bautista talked about the final scene the original cast of the film shot together for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He grew pensive thinking about the tears and videos taken on the last day all of them were together. As per the actor:

“I wrapped in the worst possible way on that film (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3). When I wrapped the film, it was Friday night in Los Angeles and when I wrapped I was immediately rushed off to get on the plane to go to Philadelphia and start shooting Knock on the Cabin on Monday. And we took pictures and made videos, I remember shooting the last scene that we were all gonna shoot together and it wasn’t even the last day, not even close to the last day, but it was the last time the original version of the guardians of the galaxy shot together and we were all in tears.”

Bautista says that he is extremely proud of the moments the cast has spent together and talked about them as his family. The Stuber actor said:

“So I am sure that there’s more of that to come. Because it is a very bittersweet thing. I feel very proud and accomplished with what we did but I am also leaving behind people that I have been with on this journey for 10 years now. They are like my family and I love them dearly.”

Thankfully, there’s still the promo tour of the film left, so the cast will get to reunite one last time. However, the end of Drax will probably usher in a new era for Bautista where he will get to show off his acting chops. After all, the MCU star wants to be taken seriously as an artist.

During an interview with GQ magazine, Bautista opened up about his career and ambitions. The actor said that he has no interest in being like The Rock. Instead, he wants to gain the respect and admiration of his peers. The actor expressed:

“I never wanted to be the next Rock. I just want to be a good fucking actor. A respected actor. Honestly, I could give a f— [about being a movie star]. I don’t care about the spotlight, I don’t care about fame. I just want to be a better actor. I want respect from my peers. I don’t need accolades—I really don’t, man. It’s about the experience, about knowing that I accomplished something.”

As for the role that opened various doors for him, Bautista has nothing has gratitude. But he is ready for something more. As per the star:

“I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Slowly but surely, the rising star is building up an impressive resume. He has already appeared in Glass Onion and Knock at the Cabin, and there are more roles that he is preparing for.
