James Gunn recently took over the helms of DC Universe and the franchise has not come out with flying colors under his reign so far. The Flash movie hit the theatres after a long wait earlier this month and turned out to be nothing but a huge disappointment to fans of the franchise. The movie which was allegedly supposed to be the “Greatest superhero movie ever” did not even turn out to be the greatest superhero movie that has come out this month.
After the massive disappointment of The Flash, it seems like the directors of the franchise want to restore the franchise to its former glory as the director of the upcoming Blue Beetle movie, Angel Manuel Soto recently announced the character’s trilogy before even the release of its first movie.
Blue Beetle is going to be the first movie of a new ‘saga‘ in DCEU
The co-chairman of DC, James Gunn has previously announced that Blue Beetle is going to be “the first DCU character“. The DCU will act as a continuation of DCEU in which not all but only some of the actors from the previous movies will be reprising their roles.
The director of the upcoming Blue Beetle movie, Angel Manuel Soto recently opened up and announced the trilogy of Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle. Soto said,
“Our first movie, the way we wanted to do it, was always with the mentality that we wanted to do two more, at least. And taking the traditional three-act structure of a story, we wanted our first movie to practically be the first act of a saga.”
Angel Manuel Soto also talked about the future plans of the DCU
Angel Manuel Soto further talked about the future plans for the franchise and revealed that Blue Beetle will mark the beginning of a new era in the franchise. Soto said,
“We are part of the universe, we are part of the world. We are part of the plans that they have been creating for the future installments of the DCU but we are not tied to all the films from the past. Yes, our movie lives in the world where superheroes exist. But that doesn’t mean that a certain event, or certain alliance, or certain things from the past dictate where our film is going.”

The Flash movie acted as a massive changing factor in the DC Universe as the aftereffects of Flashpoint were shown during the ending scenes of the movie. A lot of old characters will now be portrayed by new actors and many new characters, like Blue Beetle will be introduced in the franchise soon enough.
Blue Beetle is all set to be released in theatres on August 18 later this year.
