Actor Miles Teller has worked hard over the years to solidify his name as a successful actor in the entertainment industry. The actor became a household name in the 2010s after starring in hits like Whiplash (2014), 21 & Over (2013), and The Spectacular Now (2013).
The actor also got the opportunity to portray a superhero in Fantastic Four (2015). The actor played Reed Richards in the movie, which received bad reviews from the audience. It’s safe to say that it wasn’t the best as some call it the “worst superhero movie” of all time. With an IMDb rating of 4.3/10, the movie undoubtedly helped Teller in gaining popularity. The actor once explained that if he got the opportunity to play the role again, he will give his best.
Miles Teller played Reed Richards in Fantastic Four (2015)
Actor Miles Teller got the opportunity to play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four (2015). The movie underperformed and was heavily criticized. In a 2014 interview with MTV News, the actor explained that he had to work hard in order to get the role,
“I tested for the role of Reed Richards. I think I’m the only person that did. But absolutely it took a lot of convincing for me with Reed Richards. I know Josh really had to…and Josh did for all the characters. For Jamie, he really vouched for. For Mike, he was, ‘This is my guy’ from the bat. And he was very specific on who he wanted to play these characters.”
The actor finally got the role and starred alongside, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan. On a budget of $120 million, the movie only managed to make about $167 million.
The actor would love to reprise his role
Teller now believes that he can do better if he got the opportunity to play the role again. He once explained in an interview with ET that he would love to reprise his role,
“If we do, I hope it comes together in a way that satisfies people. You want to make the fans happy, but you can’t please everyone. In our case, we pleased very few.”
A reboot is planned by Marvel Studios but unfortunately, it will feature a fresh cast. The movie is expected to release in 2025.
Miles Teller thinks that Fantastic Four got unnecessary hate
In an interview with Collider in 2016, Teller explained that everyone who worked on the film gave their best and the movie was “unjustly critiqued.” He said,
“People think that when you make something like a Fantastic Four that doesn’t do well, people think ‘Oh you phoned it in’ and it couldn’t be more untrue. You work harder on the bad films, or the films that turn out maybe not the way you intended because something’s not working. And I thought it was kind of unjustly critiqued that way.”
The actor further pointed out that there are many more superhero movies that have performed poorly in the past.
