The Batman 2 becomes the latest superhero project to come under the grasp of the WGA Strike. The first movie directed by Matt Reeves turned out to be a massive blockbuster. But as the fans were waiting for the sequel, it falls prey to the inevitable which led to a spree of disappointing reactions on the internet.
The Matt Reeves directorial turned out to be one of the best portrayals of the caped crusader. The success also promised a chain of follow-up projects. The Penguin TV Series and The Batman 2 were the major names in it. But now it looks like, the fans might have to wait more as the development of both projects has been halted.
The Batman 2 might face a delay due to the Writers’ Strike
As reported exclusively by the Midgard Times, The Batman 2 can’t begin its filming on November 2023 as planned. It is speculated that the WGA strike is the potential reason behind it as the director of the movie Matt Reeves is also involved in the strike along with his co-writer Mattson Tomlin. This has led to a large number of fans expressing their disappointment on the internet.
While the filming of The Batman 2 is expected to start in March 2024 now, the release is unlikely to delay as there’s still ample time left for it. The project is slated to drop on October 3, 2025.
The Batman didn’t take time to turn into a fan favorite after DC finally delivered an amazing project following the lackluster series of projects. This also led to both this movie and Todd Phillips’ Joker being safe from the new DCU plans formulated by the new heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. These two movies are set to be set in “Elseworlds”, a universe set outside of the canonical DCU.
Robert Pattinson‘s performance also played a huge role in the success of the 2022 movie. The Twilight Saga actor initially disappointed the audiences after the casting announcement but what followed after is still appreciated worldwide. The filming delay has led to a significant section of fans taking to Twitter to express their reaction to it.
