After starring in four films in the series, Dwayne Johnson refused to return to the Fast & Furious franchise due to his issues with his co-star Vin Diesel. However, despite their public feud, the Guardians of the Galaxy star still urged Johnson to return for the 10th film in the franchise. But The Rock still denied the offer, saying that he should stop bringing it up, as they had already discussed it in private.
While it seemed that Johnson was adamant about his decision, fans were surprised to see his return in Fast X. And the XXX star explained his co-star’s return in his recent interview with ET Online.
Vin Diesel On Dwayne Johnson’s Return to Fast & Furious
The recently released Fast & Furious film had multiple surprises for fans, one of the biggest included the Rampage star’s return to the franchise in its post-credit scene. Vin Diesel recently talked about Dwayne Johnson’s return to the franchise amid their public feud.
“We have such a great cast. We lead with love,” he said during an interview. The Pacifier star also said that the makers create an environment where people can do their best. He claimed that actors want the freedom to create their own “unique characters” that last forever in the Fast & Furious franchise.
“They’re supported to create unique characters. Characters that last forever, and you see that in this franchise,” he said. While he did not say anything about Luke Hobbs’ presence in the next Fast & Furious film, the character is expected to join Dominic and his crew against Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes.
A Brief Look at Dwayne Johnson And Vin Diesel’s Feud
Vin Diesel decided to cast Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs in the 2011 film Fast Five after he saw a fan’s wish to see the two actors together. He reprised his role in the following three films of the series before sharing a cryptic post about one of the cast members of the eighth film in the franchise, The Fate of the Furious.
Although he did not mention a name, his now-deleted Instagram post was allegedly targeted at the Pitch Black star. Actress Michelle Rodriguez also confirmed that there was some tension between the stars, but she also mentioned that they’re still on friendly terms.
Dwayne Johnson later revealed that he was done with the popular franchise without addressing his earlier post. It was followed by Diesel asking the Black Adam star to return to the franchise publicly, but The Rock was still adamant about his decision.
Seems like things worked out for the two of them somehow behind the camera, and Johnson decided to reprise his role. However, neither of them has said anything about resolving their issues so far.
