Jennifer Garner has been in multiple successful films over the years. Her career boasts an impressive record of several well-acclaimed films. Garner has also collaborated with numerous well-known stars during her long career. One of her most iconic collaborations was with the Titanic star Leonardo Di Caprio.
Appearing in Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, the two played high school sweethearts. While Garner had a short role, her chemistry with Di Caprio was captivating and helped add another layer to the narrative. While the two had fun working alongside each other, Garner had a more ‘magical‘ time making out with her co-star.
Jennifer Garner Had Fun Shooting Uncomfortable Love Scene With Leonardo Di Caprio
Actors often have to perform intimate scenes if and when the script demands. Usually, they have to resort to different means to save themselves from humiliation or make their co-stars comfortable. In the movie Catch Me If You Can, Jennifer Garner played a s*x worker and had numerous intimate scenes with her co-star Leonardo Di Caprio.
During such scenes, Garner revealed she took a lot of breath mints before shooting the kissing scenes.
“It was magical. We kissed a whole lot. It was only uncomfortable for the first couple of minutes. Then you’re just going for it, slobbering all over each other and saying, ‘Oh, you have something in your teeth.’ I went through a couple of tins of breath mints.”
On the other hand, Di Caprio described Garner as the perfect person to play the role.
“Jennifer was very nice. I think she was perfect for this role.”
While The Last Thing He Told Me star was initially nervous about making out on screen with Leonardo Di Caprio, she didn’t let her nerves get the better of her. Both did an amazing job that made her short role too memorable.
Leonardo Di Caprio Made Spielberg Cast Garner In Catch Me If You Can
Leonardo Di Caprio is to credit for having Jennifer Garner’s character in the film. The Oscar-winning actor revealed that Garner’s role was not present in the original script, but after going through Frank Abagnale’s life, on whom the film is based, Di Caprio loved the incident so much that he rang up Steven Spielberg and begged him to have the character included just for that one scene.
However, at first, the scene and everything else went completely wrong. It wasn’t until the illustrious director took everything in his hand and flipped out the entire sequence including the lines. And thus, the memorable and iconic scenes between Jennifer Garner and Leonardo Di Caprio were created.
