Fans have always been captivated by the idea of a crossover between DC and Marvel. After the first official crossover with the 1976 Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man, there have been multiple crossovers between Marvel and DC. But fans still have not seen a live-action version of this crossover. The Rock, starring in the upcoming DC film, Black Adam, has earlier said that there should be a crossover between Marvel and DC.
The Jumanji star has recently said that he is optimistic about the crossover. And he hopes that the end goal for both cinematic universes would have some sort of crossover. Dwayne Johnson also said that DC is not interested in copying what Marvel is doing in any way.
We Don’t Wanna be Marvel, We Wanna be DC: The Rock
There have multiple reports suggesting that DC is looking for someone like Kevin Feige to lead the DC universe. Dwayne Johnson, who is joining the DCEU as Black Adam, has been considered fit for the job as he has put a lot of input into Black Adam.
When he was asked if he would be up for the role, The Rock said that the best position for him at DC would be an advisor. “The best position that I could be for DC is one as an advisor, where I can help. I love DC. It’s in my blood,” Johnson told Variety. The Red Notice star said that he is there to help in any way he can, including looking for the right leader or leaders.
The Black Adam star also claimed that DC is not going to take any kind of bite from Marvel. He said that what Marvel has done is incredible, but DC does not want to be Marvel.
“What they have done is incredible and I love those guys, they are my friends. And they are largely responsible for the economic drive of our business for almost two decades. So, we don’t wanna be Marvel, we wanna be DC,” The Rock said.
He further said that he does not want to take a bite of that apple and would prefer a new apple, claiming that DC would not copy anything from Marvel and is focusing on creating its own new era.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on Marvel and DC Crossover
Although the actor has said that DC is not planning to copy anything from Marvel, he had said that there should be a DC and Marvel Crossover. Dwayne Johnson starred with Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in the 2021 Red Notice. After which, The Rock said that he, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds could make it happen.
“I turned to Ryan [Reynolds] and Gal [Gadot], and I said there should be a crossover,” Johnson told Variety. “We can be the ones to possibly make it happen. We’ll see what happens.” In his recent interview with Variety, the Fast and Furious star mentioned that he is always optimistic, and according to his philosophy, anything is possible.
“Let’s start with the end goal. And if the end goal is to have some sort of crossover that can be compelling, smart, cool for the fans,” Johnson said. Referring to the fans, he said that if they would like to see something like that, then let’s create it.
Fans are captivated by the idea of having a live-action crossover between DC and Marvel. However, Marvel is not planning anything like that. Kevin Feige has also said that he is not working on such an idea for now, but he also said never say never.
The Rock is featured in the upcoming DC movie Black Adam. Black Adam will release on October 21, 2022.
