During a recent Reddit AMA, Keanu Reeves had a meaningful answer to one of the questions asked by a fan. The fan asked, “What drives you to be so compassionate?”. As usual, The Devil’s Advocate actor had a thoughtful insight as an answer for the fan. Reeves said, “We die…and we all need all the help we can get.” The Replacements actor was conveying that life is too short and that he’s trying to do everything in his capacity to keep this world a happy place.

Reeves is also a very spiritual person which adds to his compassionate character. The Little Buddha actor, though not a formally practicing Buddhist, has drawn valuable principles from the religion into his life. Reeves explained:

“Most of the things I’ve come away with from Buddhism have been human—understanding feelings, impermanence, and trying to understand other people and where they’re coming from.”

The Speed actor is known for offering such wisdom through his responses, like the time when Reeves had a chat with Drew Barrymore on her show. When Barrymore mentioned that she is a lover, not a fighter, Reeves responded, “If you’re a lover, you got to be a fighter too. If you don’t fight for your love, what kind of love do you have?” A life lesson, right?
