Well now as Black Adam has almost no future in James Gunn’s DCU, A-list actor Dwayne Johnson had to step back from the franchise, even when he tried to bring back Henry Cavill’s Superman. Currently, James Gunn has not commented anything on continuing with Johnson.
Upon this news, many were under the impression that Johnson tried to influence his way through DC. But recently Dwayne Johnson called out these reports, that according to him, were not true.
Dwayne Johnson Calling Out Fake Rumors
A while back Dwayne Johnson was on an interview with CNBC’s Squawk on the Street. When the host of the show asked Dwayne Johnson about these allegations of him trying to make his way through DC to make his own project, he shut them down saying that they were simply not true. He further added that Johnson and the President of Warner Bros., David Zaslav discussed not how to form his own multiyear project rather they discussed how to bring Warner bros. and Discovery to the top.
“That is simply not true. I had a great meeting with David Zaslav, myself and my longtime business partner Dany Garcia. Her and myself went in, we sat with David, and we did not pitch a ten-year plan at all. What our meeting was the future and how can we build across the entire platform of Warner bros. and Discovery.”
Johnson later added that all this time he had shown discipline by not doing anything when these rumors came out. He further says that when you are in a position where people notice and follow your every move, you cannot just act recklessly and must hold responsible for your actions. Later in the interview, Johnson said that though he was practicing self-control, it was challenging for him to see those fake rumors getting out of hand.
Will There Be a Chapter 2 for Black Adam
Black Adam is almost finished after the recent fiasco of Dwayne Johnson and James Gunn. Though there were reports stating that Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will not return to DC, it is being told that he will not return for the first few phases of the new universe that will be created. Rather, DC has agreed to continue to speculate how Black Adam can be used in the multiversal events. James Gunn also tweeted,
“Love the Rock, and I’m always excited to see what he and Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon”
After Black Adam’s failure at the box office with only $393 million collected, James Gunn was appointed as the co-chief of DC Studios along with Peter Safran. Since then, Gunn has been making the DC Bible, which will lay out how DC will be rebooted for the next few years. They canceled Wonder Woman 3, which was already in its post-production stage, thus ending Gal Gadot’s time in DC. James Gunn currently has the power to make games, rebuild the comic world, and start over a new leaf altogether.
