Oscar Isaac and his Moon Knight co-star had a happy dance with God during the filming of the series in Budapest. Isaac, who stars in the titular role in Jeremy Slater’s miniseries, was high out of his mind alongside his little brother and co-star, Ethan Hawke (Arthur Harrow) after they took a godly trip on magic mushrooms.
Moon Knight Days In Budapest Was Like Taking A Trip To The Moon
During the filming of Marvel’s Disney+ series, Moon Knight, the three musketeers, Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight), his younger brother, Mike, and Ethan Hawke (Arthur Harrow) got high one night as they took magic mushrooms off the Marvel Studios set, and experienced dancing with God. He narrated:
“It was my brother and Ethan. And we were at a house, and our families had just left, and we had the weekend there. It was at a place called Lake Balaton, which is just outside of Budapest.
It’s so beautiful. And we got our hands on a little psilocybin; magic mushrooms.”
During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Isaac expressed their adventure, hilariously describing the magic mushroom trip as dancing with God. Named the best actor of his generation by Vanity Fair, Isaac smirked at the memory and said, “Oh, right, yeah, we danced with God.” This was after his wife, Elvira Lind, and other family members left.
Jordan’s Ever-Famous Wadi Rum Desert Is Oscar Isaac’s Old Stomping Ground!
Besides Budapest, Moon Knight was also filmed in places like Jordan, Slovenia, Atlanta, and Georgia. Interestingly, some shots were filmed at Jordan’s familiar Wadi Rum Desert, where Oscar Isaac shot some scenes as Poe Dameron in The Rise of Skywalker and as Duke Leto Atreides in Dune. He said on the same show:
“We shot mostly, like, seven months in Budapest and a couple of weeks in Jordan in the same desert where we shot The Rise of Skywalker and Dune.
[We filmed] in the Wadi Rum desert. That’s my old stomping grounds.”
The Ex Machina actor also revealed that the filming took place during Covid, and everything was shut down. Jordan was like a ghost town, but it was still beautiful. Moon Knight co-stars Ethan Hawke and Isaac indulged in some brotherly bonding off the Marvel Studios set, jogging and running together.
Moon Knight is available for streaming on Disney+.
