The launch of The Flash has been anything but normal. According to reports, Warner Bros. Discovery modified The Flash in order to conceal its “secret ending” between viewing. The Flash strives to rewrite the past in the newest installment of the DC Universe, which is scheduled to debut on June 16. The movie is anticipated to transform the DC Extended Universe as it gets ready for a new phase under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s direction. The film features appearances from Batman (Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck), Zod (Michael Shannon), and Supergirl (Sasha Calle).
Four days before the movie’s theatrical release, Warner Bros. decided to hold just one premiere, according to a source who spoke to Variety. The insider claimed that star Ezra Miller had nothing to do with this choice. Instead, Warner’s decision to hold just one premiere is an effort “to keep the ‘secret ending’ under wraps.”

Spoilers for The Flash leaked in spite of WB’s best efforts
Before The Flash’s screening at CinemaCon in late April 2023, this secret ending reportedly underwent several changes. A section of the last scene was omitted from the convention version that was presented to participants. This past week, more screenings were conducted in Burbank, California, and while the final scene was seen, important details were masked. Director Andy Muschietti previously stated,
“If you see the movie on the sixteenth or after, you’ll notice that there’s a couple surprises there that we wanted to leave for the release of the movie to avoid any kind of possible leaks and stuff.”
Warner Bros. took many such precautions, but The Flash spoilers have nonetheless appeared. After passing up the chance to play the Man of Steel in Tim Burton’s canceled Superman Lives film, Muschietti shockingly revealed in May that actor Nicolas Cage plays Superman in The Flash. Fans also learned that Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, not only makes an appearance in The Flash but also has a musical number. Despite a trailer suggesting that Aquaman doesn’t exist in the DC Universe after the Flash changes history, Momoa will sing a song named I’m a Sailor on the movie’s soundtrack.
Will The Flash reset the DC Universe?
The Flash is influenced by the DC Comics story Flashpoint by Geoff Johns and Adam Kubert. Flash Barry Allen goes back in time to stop his mother from being killed when he was a young boy in this tale. The lives of both heroes and villains are altered as a result, having an impact on the whole DC Universe.
The live-action DC Universe is changed when Miller’s Barry saves his mother in The Flash. Henry Cavill’s Superman has been replaced by Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, while Ben Affleck’s Batman has been replaced by Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne as the Batman of the DC Universe. The Flash is slated to restart the current DCU that started in 2013 with Man of Steel, according to DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, in a manner similar to how Flashpoint led to DC Comics’ New 52 relaunch. This will open the door for the reimagined DC Universe Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran have planned, which will formally launch with the 2025 release of Gunn’s Superman: Legacy movie
The Flash hits the theatres on June 16.
