Since his MCU debut in the 2016 MCU movie Captain America: Civil War, the Web Crawler has been received well by fans as the character is bringing a lighter and more funny version of the character. Just a year after his introduction, MCU released his standalone, Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017.

Tom Holland appeared in three Spider-Man movies and all have enjoyed quite a fanbase grossing over $3.92 billion at the box office while Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed $1.9 billion alone. However, the actor was skeptical about continuing the titular character further. Appearing in The Hollywood Reporter recently, Holland expressed his concern about the next Spidey movie. “I think we found the reason [we would do another film],” Holland said. “I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative. But I’m also a little apprehensive about it.”

“There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise, and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life.”

Of course, the most recent addition to the franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home was grand as it featured Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the character and the villains of their universe. Nostalgic indeed.

It was officially declared that the franchise’s fourth installment is in the making. Earlier, Marvel president, Kevin Feige revealed that a new Spider-Man movie was in development, just later, Sony’s Tom Rothman said that they had thoughts of the next Spidey movie saying that they “hope to get working on the next Spider-Man movie with that whole group”

While promoting Sony’s animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producer Amy Pascal finally gave a solid confirmation. “Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” Pascal said.

As with many other films and shows, Spider-Man 4 is also affected by the ongoing writer’s strike as the makers have paused the production process of the movie along with several other MCU projects that recently got rescheduled release dates.

“We’re in the process, but [with] the writers’ strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started,” Pascal told Variety.

Holland also revealed a brief update while saying he can not reveal much as the studio is known for building up the hype.

“I can’t talk about that, but I can say that we have been having meetings. We’ve put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers. There’s been multiple conversations had, but at this point it’s very, very early stages.”

But as of now, the makers revealed that the production crew and the entire studio are in solidarity with the writers hoping that they get their due soon. Right now, there is no further update on the movie but it’s safe to assume that the project will continue after the strike ends.
