It has been a rough couple of years in the DC Universe. With controversy after controversy, fans remain heartbroken with everything going on. And now it is none other than Ezra Miller, who has stirred up the DC Universe.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor has been charged with everything from a felony to s*xual assault. The decision to recast them as Flash in the latest DC movie, has had fans bawling to cancel Ezra Miller as well as the co-CEO James Gunn. However, with Michael Keaton set to return as Batman, it seems that Gen X might still be willing to give Miller a chance.
DC Fanatics Eager To Watch The Flash
With James Gunn taking over the rein of the DC Universe, things have been changing. Whether for better or worse, it’s hard to guess since the DC fanatics stand divided in their opinion. With the recent DC movie, The Flash, hitting the big screen soon, the divide is greater than ever. Ezra Miller, who will be reprising their role as Flash, seems to be the reason for it all. Recently awarded a year of probation for his countless crimes, not all praised when DCU recast them. However with the news of Michael Keaton returning after 30 years as Batman, fans seem to have changed their opinion, with many agreeing to watch the movie.
Whether the movie would be successful on the big screens or not, only time will tell. For now, DC Studios seems to have somewhat saved The Flash by casting Michael Keaton as Batman.
Is Everything Well In The DC Universe?
The DC Universe was turned upside down with the merger of Warner Bros. with Discovery. From shows being dropped to movies not being released (despite completion), it’s been a mad year, to say the least. The tumult started when James Gunn decided to join the DC-verse. His past tweets about many sensitive topics and inappropriate comments stirred a debate to cancel him and bring back the Snyderverse. Not just that, with Miller staying and the firing of Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, things have been going in a downward spiral ever since.
And just when things couldn’t get any worse Gunn’s rumored decision to cast a non-american Superman has led to a new set of protests. It is hard to say if everything is well with the DC-verse but Michael Keaton returning as Batman might have changed things up a bit. But the question remains how well the latest Ezra Miller starrer The Flash would do on the big screens. Guess we would have to wait a bit more.
The Flash would be in theaters on June 16, 2023.
