Vin Diesel Admits He Was Forced to Delete Major Fast X Star's Scenes in Previous Fast and Furious Movies: "We had shot other things a long time ago"

It’s been less than two weeks and Fast X is having a field day at the box office after passing a major milestone, courtesy of the $507 million it amassed just yesterday. It’s safe to say the thrilling adventures of the Fast family with all their deadly car chases and tales of vendetta seem to be paying off. After all, the crew went above and beyond to make the tenth installment in the action-packed franchise as explosive and gripping as possible.

The return of a few major characters has undoubtedly contributed to all the excitement bubbling up for the film. As it turns out, however, Vin Diesel had concocted plans to introduce said characters long before Fast X. But you know what they say, everything happens for a reason.

!! Spoiler Alert! The following article contains spoilers for Fast X !!

Gal Gadot Was Slated to Return As Gisele Way Before Fast X

It’s nothing new for the Fast family to brush past death amid dangerous heists and adrenaline-riddled street racing; the number of times all the characters have been on the doorstep of demise in the action film series is surreal, to say the least. Like when Gal Gadot‘s Gisele Yashar was killed off in 2013’s Fast 6, or the time when Han died in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Even Michelle Rodreiguez‘s Letty seemed to have met her end at one point. But bringing back the dead is a specialty of the Fast & Furious crew.

So, when Gadot’s Gisele made a surprise appearance toward the end of Fast X, fans were more pleasantly surprised than shocked to their core to see the antagonist-turned-anti-heroine back in action.

The Wonder Woman star, however, had been in the works to reprise her role as Gisele long before the latest movie, as Vin Diesel confirmed in his interview with Variety. The latter even admitted they’d gone so far as to shoot the potential scenes that’d reinstate her character. But alas, things didn’t pan out before Fast X.

“We had shot other things a long time ago that might not have fit for that specific movie as a finale. Doing tags is a very tricky thing, because you want this great talent, and at the same time you want to you have to be very careful to maintain the emotional state of your audience at the end of the movie. So that’s what you’re juggling, and we’re just really lucky to have it work here.”

In hindsight, it was probably for the best that Gadot didn’t reappear before time because her return has been weaved perfectly into Fast X, albeit briefly.

Fast X – Vin Diesel Talks About the Cliffhanger

As Diesel, 55, recently revealed, Fast X is going to be the first part of a trilogy that will wrap up the long-standing billion-dollar franchise. In light of the same, it was imperative for the crew to leave the audience with a massive cliffhanger, something that the franchise has never attempted before.

“This is the first time we’ve ever released a movie where the audience has essentially said, ‘I see your bet and we raise you.’ They are walking out of the theater – because it’s a cliffhanger – with a different kind of… there’s a different deal. When you see this movie, you know we have to deliver the conclusion because we’ve never, in Universal history, had a cliffhanger like we had in this movie.”

Thanks to Dante Reyes’ (Jason Momoa) genius plan of revenge, the fate of several major players from the Fast & Furious family, including Dom, Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), and Han (Sung Kang) remains undetermined. Truly a nerve-wracking parting gift to leave fans with.

Fast X is currently playing in theatres.
