Brett Ratner’s heist film, After the Sunset, offers captivating on-screen chemistry between Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek. Their sizzling scenes indeed live up to expectations, but Brosnan previously spoke about heartwarming moments alongside Woody Harrelson, showcasing a delightful camaraderie.
After the Sunset features Brosnan as Max Burdett, a skilled diamond thief, and Harrelson as Detective Stan Lloyd, who has continuously pursued him without success. In the film’s ultimate heist, Burdett, with the help of his girlfriend Lola (Hayek), pulls off a daring feat, leaving Lloyd humiliated as he takes the diamond right from under his nose.
Pierce Brosnan Had A Lot Of Fun Shooting The Film
Pierce Brosnan fondly recalled the enjoyable atmosphere on set. The trio’s camaraderie seemed to stem from their mutual respect for each other’s craft. Brosnan preferred a low-key approach, prioritizing a well-crafted script and ensuring his character had depth and development. His main focus was on believability in his performance, aiming to execute his role professionally and avoid unnecessary chaos and theatrics.
“We just kind of liked each other. Salma, Woody and I, we just got on. I don’t know how that happens. It comes from respecting each other’s work and she had her moments of doing it. I try to keep a low profile as much as possible.”
The role presented an opportunity for Woody Harrelson and Pierce Brosnan to delve into their more feminine aspects, embracing a different dimension of their characters.
“The thing about Pierce, in bed he’s gentle, thoughtful, patient… And aggressive,” Harrelson joked. “It was fun. We actually did a lot of laughing that day. You know, you put two guys in bed with each other who are completely secure with their femininity, and it’s a lot of hijinks.”
Navigating a male-dominated party set might have posed challenges for Hayek, being the only female. Ratner’s unique directing style, characterized by multitasking and constant movement, set him apart from most directors.
Did Salma Hayek Face Difficulties Alongside Pierce Brosnan
Brosnan recalled Salma Hayek’s spirited moments on set. Being Mexican, she possesses that perfect blend of assertiveness, exclaiming, “Brett, pay attention to me!” Even as Brett is engrossed behind the monitor, handling phone calls and juggling multiple tasks, Hayek’s presence commands attention.
“She did her shouting and screaming,” Brosnan said. “But she’s Mexican and so she’s got that great blend, she’s got that, ‘Brett, pay attention to me!’ As Brett is behind the monitor on his phone with six models who’ve just flown in or whoever, and his mind is going like this and he’s thinking of another lens”
According to Harrelson, Salma Hayek stands as one of the most extraordinary goddesses to grace this Earth. Remarkably, she becomes even more beautiful with each passing year. Harrelson asserted that she genuinely cares for her friends, always ensuring everyone is doing well and taken care of.
