Online FPS games have always been popular among gamers. Being able to team up with other players worldwide and indulge in hardcore battles did seem like a good dose of dopamine for some of us. However, with so many multiplayer FPS at our disposal, a simple question did rise in our minds which game is the most popular among all these?
With Valorant, Call of Duty, and Apex Legends climbing up the ladder of FPS games, let’s look at which among these can be considered the pinnacle of FPS gaming in 2022.
Valorant
CS: GO walked so that Valorant could run.
With that being said, Valorant resembles CS: GO in a lot of ways. Being a tactical first-person shooter, the fundamentals of the game are similar to that of CS: GO. There are five-person teams pitted against each other. The intricate resemblance follows down to the guns having similar firing patterns in both games! However, what sets Valorant apart from CS: GO is the special techniques each player possesses and how it impacts their entire existence in the team.
Call of Duty
Call of Duty is a multiplayer FPS developed by Activision. Like every competitive FPS out there, Call of Duty presents the players with a ranking system. Progressing through those ranks rewards the players with a variety of things, such as new weapons, skins, and equipment. This game features the battle royale mode and several other modes, such as team deathmatch, domination, and sniper arenas. Players have the freedom to customize their weapons according to their playstyle.

Apex Legends
Apex Legends was created by Electronic Arts with only one goal in mind; dominating the battle royale ordeal in online FPS. Being a battle royale, Apex Legends starts with players in an area slowly engulfed by a shrinking circle. The players have to fight and assert dominance within the circle to come out triumphant. What differentiates Apex Legends from other traditional battle royales like PUBG and Fortnite is that the players (ie, Legends) possess unique abilities which outline their specific role in a team setting or solo setting.
Which game conquered the 2022 online FPS?
To find out which game dominated 2022 won’t be that easy, keeping in mind that several factors play a huge role. One such factor is the game’s popularity and following. Apex Legends, being developed by EA, got quite the limelight when it was released. Valorant also had quite the fan base considering it was developed by Riot Games, who are known for dropping amazing games. On the other hand, Call of Duty has always been famous due to the loyal and old player base.
However, with a huge fan base that is equally engaging, the Valorant eSports Champion 2022 event acquired an astonishing 1.5 million views with an average of 523K viewers leaving behind Apex Legends and Call of Duty with 632K and 275K views, respectively. From this data, it is prominent that Valorant dominated the FPS arena of 2022.
