Ubisoft, the renowned French video game publisher, is gearing up for a busy year with plans to release at least 8 games within the next 12 months. The soonest of these releases could potentially be the next instalment in the company’s flagship stealth/action franchise; Assassin’s Creed Mirage. During a recent earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that the team would be allocating even more resources to the development studios working on the plethora of upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles, leading to a 40% increase in their collective size.
While Assassin’s Creed’s annual release schedule continues to holds a significant place within Ubisoft’s future plans, the company is planning to diversify its portfolio in the short term. According to reports, Ubisoft is releasing these 8 games within the next 12 months with the intention of course-correcting the financially challenging year that it has just gone through.
The titles in question reportedly consist of both franchise sequels and potentially brand-new intellectual properties. Stephen Totilo, a reputable journalist from Axios, shared on Twitter that Ubisoft will drop 8 games within the next 12 months. Among these titles are; Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Rainbow 6 Mobile, The Division Resurgence, Skull and Bones, The Crew: Motorfest, Xdefiant, and one undisclosed AAA game.
Ubisoft’s commitment to expanding the Assassin’s Creed franchise and delivering a range of exciting new games does indicate a strategic shift to revitalize the company’s fortunes. By diversifying its offerings with both established and fresh IPs, it looks as though Ubisoft is aiming to win back its a wider audience and re-establish its position as a leading player within the gaming industry.

Is dropping 8 games within the next 12 months the key to Ubisoft turning back the tide?
While some of the listed games, such as Rainbow 6 Mobile, may not generate overwhelming excitement among fans, others hold great promise. An AAA video game adaptation of James Cameron’s Avatar universe and the unannounced title present intriguing prospects that could potentially help lift Ubisoft out of its current slump.
Enthusiasts of franchises like The Division and The Crew will be delighted to learn that new entries in these series will be launching within the next year. If this timeline holds, then there is a strong possibility that trailers for these games will be unveiled at the Ubisoft Forward event scheduled for June 12. The one game that we know for certain will be shown during the Ubisoft Forward event next month is Assassin’s Creed Mirage. That game aims to return the Assassin’s Creed series to its roots, departing from the open-world RPG elements that have characterized recent entries in the saga.
As fans eagerly await these upcoming titles, one thing is clear; by releasing 8 games within the next 12 months Ubisoft is clearly determined to regain its stride and prove to gamers that the team is still capable of providing memorable experiences across multiple iconic franchises. The coming year promises to be an exciting time for Ubisoft enthusiasts, with a mix of familiar favorites and intriguing new ventures set to grace screens.
