Zendaya and Tom Holland discussed what fans can anticipate from Spider-Man: No Way Home on a previous broadcast of the Graham Norton Show. Because Zendaya is taller than Holland, it wasn’t as simple as they had planned for Spidey to rest MJ on a bridge after swinging her there. Zendaya explained,

“Because of our height difference, if we’re on the same point, we were attached, I would land before him,” Zendaya said. “My feet obviously hit the ground before he does.”

In plenty of other takes, Zendaya would have to be the one to grab his leg as it swung out after his landing. To this Holland replied, “I’m the superhero. I’m supposed to look cool, It’s so nice to be caught for a change,” Nonetheless, Zendaya said that the superhero actor handled the difficult landings with grace. Zendaya revealed that Holland was very grateful and did not make a huge fuss about it.

To Holland and Zendaya agreed and the Spider-Man actor recalled when they were screen tested,

“I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests… You’d have to ask [director] Jon Watts this question, but every girl that we tested for both roles was taller than me. I wonder whether that was a decision Jon had made.

He continued,

“There was no one that tested that was shorter than I was. To be fair, I am quite short, so maybe that was a decision Jon Watts made and something he was aware of and wanted to break the stereotype. I think it’s great,”
