Zendaya has established herself among the prominent actors in the Hollywood industry. From kicking off her acting journey as a Disney star, she garnered global stardom with the role of MJ in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series. Not just stardom, the actress also won her co-star’s heart along the way with the duo becoming one of the doting couples in town.
While the world is aware of their on and off-screen love story, the former threw light on what happened to her first date while accepting the Star of the Year Award at CinemaCon 2023.
Zendaya Got Candid About Her First Date At The Age of 15
The 26-year-old actress-model, Zendaya initially garnered recognition with her Shake It Up series. From then on, she landed the role in Marvel’s Spider-Man series that featured her as MJ along with Tom Holland for the titular role. While the first film, Spider-Man: Homecoming was only an introduction to her character, her role exponentially evolved in the sequels.
She immensely proved her acting skills by working on other projects like Euphoria and Dune. Due to that, she received the Star of the Year Award in Las Vegas inside Ceasars Palace, the host of CinemaCon’s Big Screen Achievement Awards.
During her acceptance speech, she opened up about her first date when she was 15.
“Literally my first date was when I was 15 years old and it was to go see Spider-Man in 3D.”
Her future unfolded in quite an unexpected way as she watched Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man on her first date. Little did she know at the time that she would join the Marvel franchise with the new set of Spider-Man series.

The Dune 2 actress expressed her gratitude towards her profession and to others who supported her along the journey. She further added,
“I think my gift is storytelling. That’s what I love to do, and it means nothing if those stories don’t get to the people they need to get to.”
She shared her thoughts on the importance of theatres,
“In a theater, that’s where someone can feel seen. That’s where someone can feel less alone. That’s when someone can escape. That’s where someone can build a new dream. I have been witness to that and I’ve experienced it myself.”
She has often spoken about gushing for Garfield. This has not been just one way as the latter has also opened up about being a fan of the former who starred with her in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, she is set to appear in the upcoming Dune 2 alongside Timothée Chalamet.
Dune: Part Two is set to be released on November 3, 2023.
