Tom Holland confesses that working with Robert Downey Jr was ‘somewhat of a nightmare’
While talking about his close collaborations with several Hollywood actors at The Hollywood Reporter shoot, Tom Holland revealed that even though Robert Downey Jr is one of his favorite people, he might be a bit difficult to work with, especially because of his legendary sense of humor. While talking about his relationship with Downey, Holland said,
“Robert Downey Jr, the legend. One of my favorite people I have ever met. Honestly, someone that I really look up to. We had a lot of fun on the set together.”
However, he added,
“He’s somewhat of a nightmare to work with because if you come up with something really funny to say as an adlib, he will always out-funny you. He is so quick on his feet.”
Well, if being funnier than someone is a nightmare, then Robert Downey Jr is definitely a difficult actor to work with. Thanks to Holland for giving a heads-up to all the actors looking forward to collaborating with the Zodiac actor in the near future.
The piece of advice Tom Holland got from Robert Downey Jr
During his conversation, Tom Holland reminisced about the time he learned an important lesson from Robert Downey Jr. While talking about one of the most memorable Tony Stark and Peter Parker moments in the MCU history, Holland said,
“One of the more memorable moments in the MCU is when my character Peter Parker evaporates and turns to dust and Robert and I had a really good time improvising that scene. I think we really understood that it was going to be a really gut-wrenching moment.”
Furthermore, while appreciating Downey’s craft and how he has led the Marvel world by example, he added,
“He is number 1, he is the leader of the MCU, and he would come to set correct, he was on time, he was kind to the crew, he was kind to the cast, he knew everyone’s name, he was professional, he knew his lines. He really led by example. So, for me, that was the piece of advice I got from Downey.”
Throughout the years, Holland and Downey Jr have continued to share a unique bond with each other. With off-the-set reunions like a random hike, the two always make sure to hype each other’s projects and achievements.
