Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse has been hailed as one of the best animated features ever made not just for its stunning art and visual effects design but also for its potent emotion-driven narrative. The story of Miles Morales which traverses various Spider-Man multiverses, and ended on a cliffhanger that will culminate in next year’s 3rd installment.
The film has also thrown up many speculations with regard to the various threads of Spider-Man across the celebrated Marvel superhero’s evolution in the comic book world. One of the most exciting talking points that was set off by the canon events that were shown in Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, is the potential marriage of Peter Parker and MJ, played by real-life couple Tom Holland and Zendaya.
Will Tom Holland and Zendaya’s Peter Parker and MJ Tie The Knot?
Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse has been making the headlines for its brilliant narrative that has also thrown up major hints about the future of the various Spider-Man characters across the multiverse. In select canon events in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales sees an image of one version of Spider-Man, Peter B. Parker marrying Mary Jane Watson, suggesting matrimony could be the destiny of all other characters including those of Tom Holland and Zendaya. This is a shot in the arm for fans who rued the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home when Zendaya’s MJ failed to remember Tom Holland’s, Peter Parker.
Now, their reunion seems like a definite possibility after Spider-Man: No Way Home in which Tom Holland’s Peter Parker aka Spider-Man is clearly seen as being connected in the multiverse to his other fellow web slingers. Among the other visions that Miles Morales had in the canon events, he sees one Spider-man lifting up the rubble which was an event that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man experienced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Despite these positive hints, it remains to be seen how Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse connects these dots especially after Spider-Man is seen to have altered the chain of events in the multiverse at the end of Spiderman: No Way Home.
Zendaya Wants A Happy Ending For Peter Parker and MJ
It seems that Hollywood star Zendaya is also hoping for positivity in Peter Parker and MJ’s relationship. Before the hints dropped by Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse regarding the possible wedding of the two characters, the Euphoria star spoke about her hopes for the Marvel couple. In a newly released book by Marvel titled Spider-Man: No Way Home The Official Movie Special Book, actor Zendaya talks about the relationship arc of her character MJ with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Speaking of the difficult situation that both of them had to face, she said,
“The heartbreaking thing, for me, as someone who cares about Peter and MJ, is the fact that they got probably just a few weeks to enjoy being kids in a new relationship and in love…and then everything explodes in their face. I was like, ‘No, they deserve happiness”.
The Dune star went on to add that both Peter Parker and MJ’s relationship connected with viewers on a human level as they were young people with relatable problems of fear, guilt, and sadness like everyone else. While MJ was cautiously negative, Peter Parker exuded positivity and hope, thereby offsetting their personalities well.
