MCU has undergone a major shift in the last few years, bidding goodbyes to some of their most prominent characters, including Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America. And it seems another member of the big three might too bid farewell to the MCU soon.
Chris Hemsworth’s future in the MCU has been under wraps for quite some time now, ever since Thor 4 underperformed among fans and critics and health concerns stumbled the actor’s way. Although it can’t be said for sure what the future holds for Hemsworth moving forward in the MCU, it appears Thor’s brother is set to do the major heavy lifting in the upcoming phases moving forward.
Chris Hemsworth Might No Longer Be at MCU’s Forefront Moving Forward
Following the reveal of the official cover for MCU’s upcoming timeline book, it appears Chris Hemsworth might be taking a backseat for the upcoming Multiverse narrative. The hardcover for the book, which will give fans a concrete understanding of the MCU’s timeline, involved Iron Man, Thanos, Shang-Chi, Captain Marvel, Falcon, Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki, and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie.
Apart from RDJ and Thanos, the hardcover seems to give an overview of the upcoming MCU figures, which will lead the cinematic universe moving forward. And the absence of Chris Hemsworth seems to imply that his days of leading the Avengers as their strongest member might be nearing its end.
Chris Hemsworth Doesn’t Want to Milk Thor
Although Chris Hemsworth hasn’t brushed off the idea of reprising the God of Thunder gig in the MCU, he did express his concerns about overstaying his welcome as the character. The Extraction Star has been at the forefront of the MCU alongside Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr since Phase 1, and it appears Hemsworth is also looking forward to a grandeur exit like his peers. However, reflecting on his future as the iconic character, he did clarify about being open to playing the character as long as they had something new to offer.
“I don’t want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character,” said Hemsworth. “If an audience wants to see it, and if there’s something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great. I’ve loved being able to reinvent that character a few times.”
Even though it’d be foolish to say that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is past his prime, it’s understandable why MCU might be moving forward from their big guns, focusing more on building their future heroes.
