Tom Cruise gets his adrenaline rush dose by performing the most perilous stunts. Cruise prefers to perform his amazing stunts without the assistance of a stuntman or body double most of the time. And, to accomplish so, the Top Gun actor prepares himself to look like the true savior in the movie.
The 60-year-old actor doesn’t think twice before starting filming for his crazy stunt scenes, but many around him are very concerned. Jeremy Renner who worked with Cruise in two Mission Impossible movies shared his experience of performing stunts with the The Mummy actor.
Jeremy Renner recalls doing a stunt scene in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner were seen doing some wild stunt scenes in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation as well. During an interview, Renner who played the role of William Brandt talked about doing a stunt scene in the 2011 action-adventure movie. The Town actor recalled he and Cruise had a similar stunt and the 60-year-old actor went first to do the scene. While talking about the stunt, the 52-year-old actor said,
“So Tom’s been running around the building the whole time, and I thought ‘I can do this. There’s only this little belt, one wire and a bloke who doesn’t look like he’s paying attention holding me up, so I was a bit concerned. A couple of seconds later, I was doing it. And it became a beautiful scene, once the terror passed.”
Even though, Renner was very concerned about doing the stunt scene he still managed to ace it. The Wind River actor has done many crazy stunt scenes in Ghost Protocol.
Jeremey Renner broke his arms during the filming of Tag
During the filming of the 2018 comedy movie Tag, Renner broke his arms while performing a stunt around 20-plus chairs. The Dahmer actor’s co-star in the film Jon Hamm talked about how Renner injured himself while doing the chasing stunt in the movie. The 52-year-old actor also recalled how he kept doing the scene even after he broke his arms, the Wind River actor said,
“ I broke along with it and fell on the ground and broke my arms. Then I realized, I think something’s wrong, so I went to the hospital, and they said it was broken, so I got them wrapped up and then I went back to work and did everything I could do to continue on as we did.”
He further added,
“I couldn’t rotate my hands but I could move my arms up and down kind of like a robot, but I would do anything that didn’t hurt essentially.”
Renner completed the shooting of the film Tag with his broken hand. He explained that he limited using his hands in many scenes of the movie because he was recovering from the injury.
