Tom Cruise Imagined As Green Lantern in Fan Art

Popular for starring in action movies like Mission Impossible and Top Gun, Tom Cruise is known to be one of the true movie stars of the time. While he is widely known for doing death-defying stunts in his movies, the Tropic Thunder actor has portrayed versatile roles throughout his career.

However, fans are still waiting to see him donning the title of a superhero. Cruise has shared that he makes different kinds of movies, suggesting that he might not be interested in starring in the CGI world of Marvel and DC. However, thanks to digital artists, fans have been able to get a glimpse at what the Mission Impossible star would look like as a superhero.

An Instagram post shared by a digital creator shows Cruise as the DC superhero Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern. The Top Gun star is seen transforming into the superhero as he glares at the ring in his hand, which gives Green Lanter his powers.

The whole aesthetics of the fan art proves why Tom Cruise is considered the perfect actor for the role. While it is unclear if the action star would accept the offer or not, DC Studios has announced a new Green Lantern project after Ryan Reynolds‘ 2011 box office bomb.

DC Developing a Green Lantern TV Series

The new co-CEOs of DC Studios announced the first chapter of the new DCU. Along with Superman and Batman projects, the first chapter of DCU, Gods & Monsters, also includes a Green Lantern project. The TV series called Lanterns will follow fan-favorite characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart and will be released on the streaming platform Max.

The show still doesn’t have a specific release date, but it is believed to be premiered by the summer of 2025. While some reports suggest that Cruise was offered the role of Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern reboot, there has not been any official confirmation regarding the same. It is also believed that Hal Jordan could appear as an older mentor to John Stewart, and an actor like Cruise would be perfect for the role of Hal Jordan.
