As per film scooper KC Walsh, director Todd Phillips could have shot multiple endings for Joker 2. This isn’t the first time a film has shot alternate endings. Movies like Get Out (2017), I Am Legend (2007), Titanic (1997), and more have different endings. In fact, a sequel to I Am Legend is currently in development and it will follow an alternate ending rather than the one shown theatrically. However, very few films have shot multiple endings to keep fans from leaking the actual ending.

The one famous project that was rumored to have done so just to prevent leaks is Game of Thrones. Now, it looks like Joker 2 is reportedly going to follow in its footsteps. After all, fan anticipation for the movie is sky-high not only because it’s the sequel to a successful movie, but also because Lady Gaga is stepping into the role of Harley Quinn in the film. Her Twitter post about a new still from the film with Joaquin Phoenix garnered more than 300K likes.

As such, with the high public interest in the plot of the film, it becomes almost necessary for the director to film multiple endings to keep fans and leakers confused. However, some fans think that it will be a brilliant idea to show different endings in different theaters. But that will possibly confuse fans more than Phillips hopes for.

Is Joker 2 Changing Harley Quinn’s Comic Book Story?

The first Joker movie was in no way an accurate comic book adaptation because it ignored a lot of the comic book canon associated with the titular character. Also, it didn’t even feature the dark knight who is his main rival. It looks like the sequel will continue that tradition and change the backstory of Harley Quinn as well.

In most Batman comics, Harley Quinn meets the Joker because she is his psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. However, as per KC Walsh, that will be changed. Instead of her being his doctor, she will be a patient at the asylum too. A lot of fans agree with this speculation because two mentally ill people falling for each other makes sense. But others have a different angle of looking at it.

Some think that she will indeed be his doctor, but he will make up a version of her who is like him. After all, a while back it was rumored that the movie is partly a musical. As such, it’s possible that the musical sequences with Quinn will be a dream of Arthur Fleck. However, it remains to be seen if this is indeed the case or if it’s just a false leak to baffle fans.
