One of the best heavyweight boxers of all time, Mike Tyson, is known for his achievements in the boxing ring. And there have been discussions regarding a biopic following the boxing champion. And he has been quite open about which actor he would like to star in his biopic. Tyson has been adamant about having Oscar winner Jamie Foxx as the on-screen boxing champion.
And he was certainly not happy when Hulu announced its own miniseries based on his life. After which Tyson took to Instagram to call out the streaming platform for stealing his story.
Mike Tyson Called Out Hulu For Stealing His Life Story
In 2022 Hulu released an unauthorized take on the legendary boxer Mike Tyson’s life in an eight-episode miniseries, Mike. Created by Steven Rogers and starring Trevante Rhodes in the title character, the miniseries premiered on Hulu on August 25, 2022, and received mixed reviews.
However, Mike Tyson was highly critical of the series and accused the streaming giant and its makers of stealing his story. He also claimed that he did not support the production of the miniseries, as he called Hulu “the streaming version of the slave master,” who didn’t even pay him for using his story.

He shared his protest for the series on Instagram, saying, “To Hulu executives, I’m just a n****r they can sell on the auction block.” In another Instagram post, he claimed that Hulu offered millions to the President of Ultimate Fighting Championship to promote the series, but did not offer him anything for a miniseries based on his life.
Hulu Offered Millions to Dana White to Promote the Miniseries
While Mike Tyson claimed that Hulu did not offer or pay him anything for the miniseries, he shared that the streaming platform offered millions to Dana White to promote it. He said, “Hulu tried to desperately pay my brother Dana White millions without offering me a dollar to promote their slave master take-over story about my life.”
Tyson further shared that White declined the offer as he “honors friendship and treating people with dignity.” Tyson shared that he’ll never forget what the UFC President did for him. One of the executive producers, Karin Gist, defended the miniseries.
She said, “The show is not meant to glorify his life.” She claimed that they were never trying to portray Tyson as a hero or a villain and said that they only wanted to represent the story of “a very complicated and controversial figure.”
Steven Rogers also addressed Tyson’s criticism and said that the showrunners couldn’t talk to him as “his life rights were already taken.” Rogers also said that he just hoped that the former professional boxing legend would watch the series and change his opinion about it.
