Popular comedian and podcaster Andrew Schulz believes Jamie Foxx’s viral Instagram post, in which he allegedly made anti-semitic comments, was misinterpreted by trolls. In a podcast, co-hosted by Charlamagne tha God, the stand-up comedian unpacked the whole controversy and gave his take on the situation.
Defending Foxx, Schulz stated that when the actor wrote “They killed this dude name Jesus“, he wasn’t referring to the Jewish community, but was citing a commonly used Biblical reference, which warns against close friends turning into enemies. According to the co-hosts, it was quite clear what Foxx meant from his post and it was absolutely absurd that he was thrown under the bus for no reason. Both Charlamagne tha God and Schulz praised Foxx for apologizing for something he didn’t even do in the first place.
Jamie Foxx Forced to Apologize for His Post
A few days ago, Jamie Foxx took to Instagram to post a quote where he stated, “They killed this dude named Jesus…what do you think they’ll do to you???! #fakefriends #fakelove.” While it was clear to most that the actor was talking about friends betraying friends, some believed that Foxx was pointing toward the Jewish community. They called his post out for being anti-semitic in nature.
Foxx then posted an apology and clarified what he actually meant in the now-deleted post. He wrote,
“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”
Foxx’s apology was met with an outpour of support for the actor from fans who couldn’t believe how his words could’ve been misinterpreted to such an extent.
Andrew Schulz Comes to Jamie Foxx’s Defense
On the Brilliant Idiots podcast, hosts Andrew Schulz and Charlamagne Tha God had an unfiltered discussion about Foxx’s supposed anti-semitic post. Coming to the defense of the Django Unchained actor, Schulz stated,
“I thought that this was the biggest bullsh*t in the entire world. I cannot believe that Jamie was pushed in any way to apologize. You should never have to apologize for someone else misinterpreting what you said based on their paranoia and anxiety. This is a commonly used term. The term is Biblical in nature. God is saying, ‘Hey, it can be your closet friends that might stab you in the back.’”
Charlamagne that God added his two cents to the discussion stating,
“I’ve heard this phrase so many different times throughout my life. Whether it is, you know, ‘They even hated on Jesus so what they gonna do to you,’ ‘They talked about Jesus so what they gonna do to you,’ ‘They even killed Jesus so why wouldn’t they kill you?’ Not once have I ever thought to myself, ‘Oh the ‘they’ is the Jewish people.’ That’s never been a thing. We are talking about haters.”
Charlamagne Tha God and Schulz both appreciated Foxx apologizing to the public and called it a “kind gesture” adding that this is exactly what Jesus would want.
