Why Did Matt Damon Feel Foolish On A Film Set

During a 2019 episode of The Off Camera Show, Matt Damon was asked about how he feels starting a new film. The actor responded by saying that it was a fresh feeling working again after a two-year hiatus. Sharing his experience while starting to film Ford v Ferrari, the actor said,

“The first day I was on set, I was in these pants and I hadn’t, I kinda been avoiding the fact that I was going to work, so I didn’t take the pants and break them in. I had a cowboy hat on, it didn’t feel comfortable on my head and I had cowboy boots that I hadn’t broken in… On my way to set I just thought ‘this is really dumb.'” 

In Ford v Ferrari, Matt Damon portrays the legendary American car designer and engineer Carroll Shelby. The film depicts the true story of Shelby’s collaboration with British race car driver Ken Miles (played by Christian Bale) to build a revolutionary Ford race car to take on the dominant Ferrari team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Damon’s performance as Shelby has been praised for its charisma, wit, and subtle emotional depth, as he navigates the high-stakes world of motorsports and corporate politics.
