Starting her career as a child artist, Jenna Ortega is no stranger to Hollywood. However, it was her series Wednesday that shot her to fame overnight. Although she had brought to life complex characters previously in movies like The Fallout, Wednesday made her a household name.
And rightfully so playing the eccentric psychic girl brought her acting capabilities into the spotlight for many who were still unaware of the potential she held.
In an interesting turn of events, Netflix is now promoting her show for the Emmy Awards. And while a lot of fans think that Ortega’s show should definitely get the recognition it deserves, some are wondering if it really is worthy of being presented at the most prestigious TV awards in the world.
Jenna Ortega charms as Wednesday
As mentioned, Ortega had previously appeared in a lot of series and movies. Mostly frequenting the horror genre, Jenna Ortega stole the spotlight in the Scream franchise, last year’s X, and even made her appearance in the second season of another popular Netflix series You. However, Wednesday presented a challenge she was yet to meet before.
As the titular character remained expressionless for the entirety of her adventures in the Nevermore Academy, it became that much more difficult for Jenna Ortega to insert the comedic theme the horror show carried throughout.
However, she not only passed the challenge successfully but her performance was so loved by fans worldwide that it is soon returning with a season 2, in which she is also debuting as an executive producer.
As a result, Netflix’s idea of promoting the show for the Emmys does not surprise many. However, some still do not think that the show warrants that kind of recognition yet.

Fans troll Netflix for promoting Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday
Even with a spectacular cast and their stellar performance fans seem unhappy about Netflix’s decision to promote Wednesday for the Emmys. While some claim, “This is not an Emmys-worthy show,” some sarcastically claim that the monotonous dialogues of the main character surely deserve that.
With people coming out of the woods to express their opinions on the matter, it is safe to say that Jenna Ortega took the internet by storm once again, however, in a different way.
Well, with the Emmy Awards still a few months away, it is hard to say if the show really will be nominated for now. However, with the egregious response people seem to have, it is safe to say that it certainly has given them something to think about.
Wednesday is available for streaming on Netflix.
