Margot Robbie’s Barbie Caused A Pink Shortage Worldwide
The director of Barbie, Greta Gerwig hired production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer to design the Barbie Dreamhouse. In an article, Greenwood talked about maintaining the tone of the colors and how the pink represented the nostalgia of owning a Barbie doll.
She further revealed that during the production of the film, so much of the color pink was used that it caused an international shortage of the fluorescent shade of Rosco paints. In an interview with Architectural Digest, here’s what Sarah Greenwood had to say about the color pink.
“The world ran out of pink,”
This sentence resulted in people taking to Twitter to make jokes and compliment the team for their love and dedication to Barbie.
This wasn’t all as director Greta Gerwig came to the rescue and talked about how the movie was inspired by her childhood with dolls. The Margot Robbie starrer movie also pays significant importance to the amount of color used in the movie and director Greta Gerwig is all up for it.
Greta Gerwig Wanted Everything To Be Pink
During the interview, director Greta Gerwig talked about the importance of the color pink and how she wanted everything to be just perfect. Stating that she didn’t want to forget what made her fall in love with Barbie in the first place, Gerwig said that everything should be pink.
“I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much. [She didn’t want to forget] what made me love Barbie when I was a little girl.”
With Margot Robbie in the lead role alongside Ryan Gosling, Barbie is all set to collide with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. With both movies sharing the same release date, Barbie and Oppenheimer will be released on 21st July 2023 in theaters across the U.S.
