The Idol is an American drama series that focuses on an aspiring pop idol Jocelyn, played by Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp. In one of the scenes from the series, a fictional intimacy coordinator was locked in a closet as she tried to prevent Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) from exposing her breasts for a photoshoot.
Marci Liroff, who is a real intimacy coordinator and not connected to the show, The Idol, expressed her disappointment in an interview with Variety.
Liroff shared she was appalled by the scene. She added,
“I feel really betrayed that they were making fun of us and the job. They were using us as the butt of the joke.”
The Idol aired its first two episodes at Cannes Film Festival in May, and the rest of the series aired on HBO and Max from June 4, 2023.

The Idol is a drama television series focussing on the struggles of an aspiring artist. It is created by Sam Levinson, Abel Tesfaye, and Reza Fahim. The series revolves around the ambitious pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp) and her complicated relationship with a self-help guru and cult leader named Tedros (played by Tesfaye). Actors in supporting roles are Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria.
