Over the recent years in Hollywood, the involvement of intimacy coordinators to ensure that the actors are comfortable while performing intimate scenes has become the norm. Even though many actresses like Jameela Jamil and Emma Thompson have commended this practice, however, Toni Collette shares the quite opposite viewpoint over the matter.
Considering that Toni Collette has been involved in several intimate sequences throughout her career, the actress expressed that she doesn’t feel the requirement of these coordinators.
Toni Collette was anxious due to the involvement of intimate coordinators
Toni Collette has been pretty outspoken about her viewpoint on the involvement of intimacy coordinators on sets. While speaking with The Times, the Knives Out actress expressed that throughout her career, she hasn’t felt the need for an intimate coordinator. Collette also shared that at certain times, the involvement of intimacy coordinators has made her more anxious than actually comforting. She stated,
“I think it’s only been a couple of times where they’ve been brought in, and I have very much trusted and felt at ease with the people I was working with. It just felt like those people who were brought in to make me feel more at ease were actually making me feel more anxious. They weren’t helping, so I asked them to leave.”
But despite not having the best experience with them, the actress hasn’t brushed off the possibility of requiring them in the Knives Out star’s future projects.
Tonie Collette considers herself lucky for not feeling the need for intimate coordinators
Toni Collette expressed that she considers herself lucky for not experiencing any problems hasn’t while performing s*x scenes for several projects throughout her career. The Wanderlust star explains that she has been fortunate throughout her career, as she hasn’t come across any uncomfortable scenario with any of her onscreen partners. She explained the situation by stating,
“You never know what you’re going to get and it’s a miracle that a film ever comes together, let alone thrives. I’ve been very fortunate in that I’ve only worked with a few arseholes over the several decades that I’ve managed to keep this boat afloat.”
While in another interview she stated,
“If I’d been with other people where I didn’t feel as comfortable, I probably would have welcomed her there. But I just felt so secure in our world that I didn’t feel the need for her presence.”
However, Toni Collette has been open to the idea of the involvement of intimacy coordinators in her future projects, considering the actress isn’t 100% sure if she’d be comfortable with her next onscreen partner.
