Gary Oldman has proved time and time again just how amazing of an actor he is. Renowned for his contribution to the Harry Potter franchise, the Oscar winner has revealed how he prepares himself for shooting difficult scenes for his movies.

While it is common for actors to just remember their past traumatic experiences for filming hard scenes, Oldman believes in doing the same, except he has got a name for this technique. Calling his distressing memories his ‘pain bag’, the 65-year-old star revealed how he gets emotional in front of the cameras, saying,

“They were just little tricks. I mean it is very simple… if you break it down. I missed my dad. And so if I had to be sad, I would think about my dad. And it would make me sad.”

Oldman admits to sometimes overdoing it too, but he also claims that most of the time he just gets too adapted to his character to care.

The Harry Potter star also reveals how he ‘trained for the stage’, unlike the present times when several acting courses are available. Explaining how there was ‘no television training’ when he started in the industry, Oldman said,

“Now, they are courses, and you have film acting. There was nothing like that.”

For someone to have trained and worked hard all by himself to portray his character in the best way possible, Gary Oldman is certainly one of his kind in the industry for playing all his characters so well that they seem real.
