Today, we all know actor Paul Rudd as a well-established actor who has showcased his versatility and talent in many blockbuster hits, however, long before his days as a superstar, the actor was a regular youngster trying to make ends meet.
It is definitely exciting for the fans to hear a story from a celebrity’s past and Rudd surely had an entertaining one. In one of his past interviews, Rudd recalled the time he went on a double date with his friend which turned out to be a disaster because of his negligence.
Paul Rudd talked about his worst date
In 2019, actor Paul Rudd appeared on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show and was asked about his “classic bad date.” The actor replied,
“I had a couple of them but one was really bad. It was a double date, a buddy of mine and I went out with two girls many years ago. I think it was pretty quickly that we realized they were not that interested in either one of us and we thought it would be funny if we just started making each other laugh. Each guy kept trying to outdo the other with just silly things, and we were driving home. I used to have a Jeep that didn’t have the doors on it, or roof, or anything like that. I was driving, and I thought it would be really funny if – while I was talking to my date, who was riding next to me – if I just stepped out and started running alongside the car.”
For a silly prank, Rudd thought it would be entertaining if he jumps out of a moving car while he was driving, putting his life, as well as the passengers’ lives, in danger. The actor added,
“I wasn’t driving fast, obviously, but even when you’re driving slow… it’s really fast. As she was talking, I just stepped out of my car to run and I hit the pavement so hard and I felt the tire, kind of, swoosh past my head. I looked up and I saw my car going toward a tree and then it stopped because the girl in the back had to jump in the front seat and put on the emergency brake.”
Thankfully, a major disaster was averted but it was sure that the date was quite traumatizing for all four of them.
Paul Rudd got many injuries
The actor further explained that he got a lot of injuries because of the prank and how his contact lenses case got embedded in his skin,
“My hands were all cut up. My pants were torn and I limped back to the car, and they were ashen-faced and wondered ‘What just happened?’ like, ‘What did you do? What’s the matter?’ and then we just drove home very quietly.” The actor added, “I remember, my leg really hurt and when I got home, I used to have contact lenses. I had a contact lens case, and when I got home, I took off my pants and I saw the imprint of ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ from the contact case embedded in my skin.”
The actor laughed as he said there was no explanation for what he did. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Before his film debut in 1991, Rudd did many odd jobs, including glazing hams at the Holiday Ham Company in Overland Park. The 1990s changed the actor’s life completely as he became a superstar, thanks to his remarkable performances in various movies and TV shows.
