‘They took us to his grave site’: Black Panther 2 Star Winston Duke Reveals Marvel Honored Chadwick Boseman By Letting Them Visit His Grave, Say Their Final Goodbyes

The year 2018 was arguably one of the biggest years in the history of Marvel Studios’ existence. This year was not great just because of Avengers: Infinity War, but also because this was the year when it released one of the most successful films in the history of the company. Black Panther was the greatest success in Marvel Studios’ standalone lineup of films, both in popularity and commercially, earning a box office collection of a whopping $1.38 billion. Everything boiled down to the stellar performance of the cast members, especially its lead, Chadwick Boseman.

But, fate has a cruel way of rearing its head and bringing some nasty surprises with it. On 28th August 2020, fans woke up to the shocking news of Chadwick Boseman’s death due to a long battle with cancer.

Winston Duke, the actor who played the role of M’Baku in Black Panther, recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he revealed that he and the rest of the crew had the honor to visit Chadwick Boseman’s grave, and revealed what happened during that time.

Winston Duke Reveals He Visited Chadwick Boseman’s Grave After His Death

Earlier this month, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Winston Duke was invited for the promotion of his upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Duke talked about a lot of things about how he was star-struck after meeting the international pop-sensation Rihana for the first time at the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and how he and Rihana shared similarities with each other, all that good stuff.

But inevitably, the couple started to reminisce about the Late Chadwick Boseman. Fallon asked Duke about what it felt like to shoot the sequel without the King of Wakanda on the set. Duke became a little somber, telling Fallon about how hard it was for everyone in the cast to work, feeling Boseman’s absence and the kind nature that he brought with him. Duke also told Fallon about how Marvel Studios was gracious enough to take the whole crew to Chadwick Boseman’s grave, where they could honor the great actor for the last time.

“It’s an honorable film, it’s the perfect film for the last three years of our lives. We’ve all lost, we’ve all suffered, we’ve all felt deep grief, and it’s about coming through that.”  Duke said as he revealed that this film was a tribute to Chadwick Boseman and all his hard work and dedication that he put into his role of T’Challa. It was an emotional moment for Winston Duke when he reminisced about how he split his pants open when he was wrestling Boseman for his role as M’Baku in the film.

What Will Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Bring To The Table

Time and time again, the creators and the cast members from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has said that this movie will honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy and hold the power to move the audience like none other. We know that the film will feature Tenoch Huerta’s Namor the Sub-Mariner as its main antagonist, which the press and critic reviews have said to be one of the best antagonist depictions in the MCU in a while.

With these assurances, we can stay at ease, knowing that Chadwick Boseman’s memory will be given the justice it deserves.
