Apart from being someone who does not take people’s opinions to her heart, Florence Pugh is the definition of a rising star, moving with phenomenal speed. Since her breakout role in 2016 with Lady Macbeth, she has made headlines for one reason or the other. Apart from movies like Midsommar and Little Women, the actress officially dipped her toes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Black Widow as Yelena Belova.

Being a part of such a grand establishment is certainly not an easy task. MCU’s movies tend to take up a chunk of your schedule as everything is done on an elaborate scale. Actress Elizabeth Olsen once talked about how doing Marvel films deprived her of smaller, independent films thanks to scheduling conflicts. However, it looks like Florence Pugh has an opposing opinion!

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Florence Pugh opened up about everything from her career to how she handles the toxicity that social media sometimes has. In one of the questions, the outlet asked Pugh how she manages and strategizes her career. We definitely want to know the answer to that after looking at the successful year she just recently had!

Without getting into it too much, Pugh revealed that the Marvel Studios helped a lot in putting her schedule on track. She stated that just because their schedule is precise, she had the time to fit a few things here and there. The Don’t Worry Darling actress added that working with Marvel gave her freedom to work on separate things.

“Working with Marvel has helped hugely. Their schedule is so precise—they know when they’re going to make it, when they’re going to release it. What that means is if you want to fill your time with other things, you have to do it amongst that. You’re able to have a lot more leeway: “Oh, I’m going to be away doing this for this certain amount of time, so I need to make sure that I can get in a little indie here, or do a play. So that’s what I’m trying to do now.”

She then continued that while she went into the year without having anything lined up, she was hoping for one or two special things. And as we know it, Pugh is officially a part of two upcoming movies, Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two, some of the most anticipated movies that are coming out this year.

“With this year, I went into the year willing it to make its own thing, and didn’t have any projects specifically lined up—like, hopefully there would be one special big thing or one special little thing. And lo and behold, I got Oppenheimer and then I got Dune. That all started making its image of the year within the first four months or so.”

Well, it certainly looks like the leeway Marvel provided Pugh ended up working in her favor! She is all set to return to the MCU with Thunderbolts amongst a pack of anti-heroes. The movie is set to release next year on July 26.

Back in May 2022, Elizabeth Olsen revealed a regret she had about working for Marvel Studios. Talking to The New York Times, Olsen stated that it was “frustrating” that she had to miss out on smaller, independent films. Olsen plays the beloved Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff in the MCU. However, when she’s not turning people into pasta, she loves to work in movies she would enjoy as an audience, even if they’re much smaller than MCU films. Being in six Marvel projects in a row didn’t let that happen and she has some regrets about that.

“I started to feel frustrated. I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more part of my being. And the further I got away from that, the less I became considered for it. [Starring in 6 Marvel projects in a row] took me away from the physical ability to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things I enjoyed as an audience member. And this is me being the most honest.”

Well, Olsen’s words are an absolute contradiction to those of Pugh’s. Who knows, maybe when the latter gets the chance to do as many Marvel films as the former, her opinions might change as well!

Oppenheimer is set to release on July 21, 2023, and Dune: Part Two is will release on November 03, 2023.
