The wait for Superman is over, as DC Studios has found its new Man of Steel for Superman: Legacy. Superman will now be played by David Corenswet instead of Henry Cavill, according to Warner Bros. The rebooted DC Universe has found its Superman in 29-year-old David Corenswet Following a prolonged casting process that culminated in screen tests involving six actors.
David Corenswet was always a front-runner for the role of Superman among fans. He is best known for his roles in the Netflix comedy-drama The Politician and the slasher-horror film Pearl. He also reminds many fans of a younger Henry Cavill. And fans of the franchise find it harder to differentiate between them.
David Corenswet’s Uncanny Resemblance to Henry Cavill
David Corenswet will play Clark Kent in the rebooted movie series with Rachel Brosnahan who will take the place of Amy Adams as Lois Lane, according to Deadline.
The actor and Henry Cavill share an uncanny likeness, some fan art made that even more evident. For years, fans were speculating that Corenswet will be the new Superman.
These many similarities confused DCU fans.
When asked if he thought there was a resemblance between him and the British actor. “I think that’s the way to go. But it has come to my attention. It actually came to my attention before the internet got a hold of me, and my sort of pie-in-the-sky ambition is definitely to play Superman.”
Meet DC’s New Superman- David Corenswet
Corenswet joins a long list of actors, including Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, and Brandon Routh, who have all played the hugely popular comic book character. Starting with the 2013 movie of the same name, Henry Cavill played the Man of Steel in four DC Extended Universe movies.
David Corenswet has been steadily earning a good name in the entertainment industry owing to his excellent performance on multiple projects. Prior to playing in A24’s critically acclaimed indie horror Pearl last year, Coronswet got his recognition in Ryan Murphy’s 2019 Netflix drama series The Politician. In the upcoming Apple TV series Lady in the Lake, Corenswet will co-star with Natalie Portman.
David Corenswet is popular but not overly so, and he possesses the charisma and compassion needed to play the Kryptonian superhero. The actor, in the opinion of fans, is the perfect choice to be the next Superman.
Superman: Legacy hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
