It isn’t a secret that Tom Cruise has been affiliated with the controversial religion Scientology for several years. Reportedly, the actor has decided to quit the religion. According to the sources, his decision might affect his personal relationships, as his family is still devoted to the religion.
Amidst all this personal chaos, the actor is apparently not in a very good state, as his latest film, Mission Impossible 7, failed to meet his expectations. According to an insider, the actor believes that his film was overshadowed by the success of Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie.
Tom Cruise is apparently tensed as his film was overshadowed by Barbie
Recently, the most anticipated films of the year hit the theaters back to back. Some of them are Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Mission Impossible 7. These films created hype among the audience, having all three of them performed well, both critically and commercially.
However, Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie broke all the records and is the second-highest movie of the year after The Super Mario Bros. Looking at the impressive success of Margot Robbie starring film, many films became conscious of its performance.
According to a source, Tom Cruise isn’t very thrilled about the success of its competing film Barbie, as he apparently feels that so much effort was put into his action film yet it got overshadowed by a metal doll film. An insider claimed,
“Tom’s Mission: Impossible seven was hard-earned and overcame so many hurdles to make it into the cinema. But there is a feeling among the crew that they fought hell and high water to get it out only for Barbie to come along and overshadow it. It’s a really hard time in Hollywood right now so no one is knocking Barbie’s wins, it’s just left a bit of a sour taste in some mouths.“
So far Greta Gerwig’s film has earned the whooping amount of around 1.18 billion at the international box office, surpassing any other movie released at its time. Cruise’s film also made much profit at the box office, as it earned $235 million globally. However, the film couldn’t match or surpass the previous film of its franchise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which grossed $791 million.
Tom Cruise faces family issues after allegedly quitting Scientology
Tom Cruise was converted to Scientology by his first wife Mimi Rogers in 1986. Ever since then, the actor has been affiliated with the religion. However, now it has been reported that the actor has left the Church of Scientology after being a devotee for decades.
Scientology is a controversial religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s. The religion emphasizes self-betterment and leads to a spiritual path through practices like auditing, which involves a series of counseling sessions.
The religion was regarded as a controversial one, due to its secretive practices and aggressive approach to responding to the criticisms of the religion. Many actors are a part of this religion, however now it seems like Cruise isn’t one of them.
According to some sources, the actor isn’t attending the Church of Scientology and it has been quite a while. What’s suspicious here is that, even though the actor is in the town, he has shown no interest in showing up at the church.
Based on all these rumors it is being speculated that the actor has quit the religion. However, there has been no response by the actor to this whole thing. If the actor has left the religion, things might get difficult in his personal life, as his family still follows the religion.
