David Harbour’s upcoming appearances are generating excitement. Fans can look forward to seeing him in Gran Turismo, a film adaptation of the iconic PlayStation game, where a young gamer gets a chance to prove himself on the track. Additionally, the highly anticipated Creature Commandos project, an animated series by DC, holds promise. This series marks a significant milestone as the inaugural animated show within the new DC Universe (DCU) timeline, under the guidance of James Gunn.
Harbour has demonstrated his familiarity with the challenges of the comic book and superhero realm. His role as Alexei Shostakov, also known as The Red Guardian, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, involved portraying the Russian super-soldier who parallels Steve Rogers. This character appeared in Black Widow, where Harbour portrayed the adoptive father of Scarlett Johansson’s iconic Natasha Romanoff.
David Harbour Speaks About His Contract
As David Harbour delved into the rich lore of the story, especially his own character’s depth, he found himself captivated and deeply intrigued by the potential to further develop this character over the next decade, provided he decides to continue the journey.
“Then I started reading up on it, and this character is so rich and hilarious and layered that it was exciting. Again, it feels like it’s this new world where they don’t lock you in anymore. I feel like Marvel learned that lesson as well. If you don’t want to do it, I don’t think they’re gonna make you do 20 movies. But I think it’s something where I just love these worlds so much that it’s a joy to do and a joy to work with someone so creative. So, if they want me to do eight to 10 years of this, I feel like I’ll check my schedule, but I’ll try to free up some time.”
He welcomed the pleasant surprise of having a more flexible arrangement without the binding constraints of a lengthy contract, recognizing that even Marvel had acknowledged the importance of avoiding multi-picture deals with diminishing returns for both actors and storytelling.
