“They deserve happiness”: Zendaya Regrets Heartbreaking Spider-Man: No Way Home Ending, Wants Peter and MJ Back Together Again in Future

Spider-Man: No Way Home actors Zendaya and Tom Holland are officially a couple. Having met and bonded on the sets of their film together in 2017, the two stars have been seen at red-carpet events while also headlining their relationship through occasional Instagram posts. But their onscreen relationship has taken a tragic turn at the end of Spider-man: No Way Home, with Zendaya’s character Mary Jane having no idea of who Peter Parker aka Spider-Man is. In a recently released book, the Euphoria actor talked about the heartbreak that these characters had to face and much more.

Zendaya reflects on Peter Parker and MJ’s love story

In a newly released book by Marvel titled Spider-Man: No Way Home The Official Movie Special Book, actor Zendaya talks about the relationship arc of her character Mary Jane with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Speaking of the difficult situation that both of them had to face, she said,

“The heartbreaking thing, for me, as someone who cares about Peter and MJ, is the fact that they got probably just a few weeks to enjoy being kids in a new relationship and in love…and then everything explodes in their face. I was like, ‘No, they deserve happiness!’

The Dune star went on to add that both Peter Parker and MJ’s relationship connected with viewers on a human level as they were young people with relatable problems of fear, guilt, and sadness like everyone else. While MJ was cautiously negative, Peter Parker exuded positivity and hope, thereby offsetting their personalities well.

Will MJ and Peter Parker meet again?

While Tom Holland and Zendaya’s love story is going from strength to strength, the future for their characters MJ and Peter Parker seems uncertain. Though Spider-man: No Way Home ended on a somber note for the duo, the film’s script is said to contain hints about what is in store for the two lovers.

According to a page in the script, it is allegedly revealed that MJ has a flicker of recognition on seeing Peter Parker in the last scene at the coffee shop. While this may not develop into something tangible, it leaves fans with the hope that there is a possibility of the couple reuniting at some point. Marvel Head Kevin Page has gone on record saying that the storyline for Spider-Man 4 is being drafted but there is no concrete information about the love angle yet.
