Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is a highly regarded action star in Hollywood. Before entering the film industry, he was a WWE icon. He is 6’4 and is known for being muscled from head to toe. The man regularly beats up guys on-screen and in his real life no one even thinks about taking him on in a fight. But apparently, that hasn’t always been the case. The Rock himself admitted that once he was bashed up by several guys before his glory days began. What exactly happened there? Let us find out.
The Rock Got Punched Out
In an old interview with Howard Stern that has resurfaced recently, The Rock talks about a gnarly experience that left him shaken. He said that he got his a** handed to him by several guys. The action star said:
“It was plural (several guys). It was one of those stupid things I said after 15 stands after school and I fought this one guy and he had all his buddies with him and they beat the living piss out of me”
But don’t think that The Rock gets beaten down often. In fact, it’s the opposite. The Black Adam star said in the interview that he had to take classes on anger management and even admitted that he went to prison three or four times for fighting guys. But among them, there was one street fight he regretted being in. He said that there was a guy with a brain tumor he fought. As per The Rock:
“Then I hit this one guy when I was 15. It sounds a little self-serving, and I didn’t know he wound up having a brain tumor.”
“You gave him a brain tumor?” Howard Stern asked.
“No no, he had an existing one,” Dwayne Johnson clarified.
Will Dwayne Johnson Return As DCU’s Black Adam?
The Rock’s first superhero venture, DC’s Black Adam, didn’t strike lightning at the box office even with star Henry Cavill cameoing as Superman. So whether due to the dismal profits made by the film or due to James Gunn rebooting the entire DC universe and starting afresh, neither he nor Cavill are reprising their roles in the foreseeable future. While Henry Cavill’s chances of returning are almost nil, but what about The Rock?
In a Twitter post made back in December 2022, the action star said that Black Adam won’t be a part of James Gunn’s first chapter of the DCU. But he said that they will continue exploring all the avenues the character can be utilized in. Here’s his statement:
“James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.”
The Rock stated that he was proud of his work on Black Adam and thanked fans for the love they showered on the movie. He gratefully said:
“After 15 years of relentless hard work to finally make ‘Black Adam,’ I’m very proud of the film we delivered for fans worldwide. I will always look back on the fan reaction to ‘Black Adam’ with tremendous gratitude, humility, and love. We did great.”
As such, it now remains to be seen where Black Adam is seen next in the DCU.
