Charlie Cox has already been associated with Marvel Cinematic Universe with his role as Daredevil. He has already proven his potential by working in the dark Marvel series but has also given some quality projects including Treason which garnered positive attention. However, what might surprise one is the fact that the actor was compared with A-listers like Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford.
In December 2022, the actor was compared to renowned actors by none other than the miniseries’ showrunner who has previously worked with the A-listers.
Treason Creator Matt Charman Compared Charlie Cox With A-list Hollywood Stars
Netflix’s thriller series, Treason was one of the anticipated projects which released at the end of last year. Given that it starred Charlie Cox, who previously led the Daredevil series, it was quite a hype. Cox has played the role of Adam Lawrence, an MI6 officer in the show. The show creator, Matt Charman in an interview with NME compared the actor with Hollywood A-listers whom he had already worked with.
He stated,
“[He makes me] think of Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford.”
Gushing about the actor, the showrunner added,
“These are guys that have a deep morality to them, a sort of trust. I think Charlie has that too. When he starts to wander away from what you think he is, you think, ‘Wait, was I wrong? How far is this guy going to go?’ It’s exciting to play with that expectation.”
For the unversed, Charman has been critically acclaimed for screenwriting. He was even Oscar-nominated for his screenplay for Steven Spielberg‘s critically acclaimed film Bridge of Spies. The show not only helped him in honing his acting ability but also cooled down his James Bond itch.
Charlie Cox Scratched His James Bond Itch With Treason
Given that Cox is English, he might have a scope in being on the list of the next James Bond. It is well known that Daniel Craig was the last one to portray the role in No Time to Die and since then, the position of 007 is vacant. While many names are competing for odds to portray the iconic role, he stated,
“Someone brought this up the other day and they told me there are odds [for who will play the next Bond]. Then she said, ‘Not for you, sadly.’”
However, it won’t dishearten the star as he shared that his role in Treason, as well as Daredevil, have quite satisfied his itch for the role.
“The Bond itch has been scratched a little bit for me with Treason but also particularly by Daredevil. Playing a superhero is not so different.”
He is also set to reprise his superhero role in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again series which will stream on Disney+ in the spring of 2024.
