When we say “spitting on him” we do not mean metaphorically. In a newly published book titled Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road, the making of the 2015 film was discussed and one such notable incident…made its way to the internet.

Tom Hardy Spat At Armie Hammer For The Role In Mad Max: Fury Road

Well, it seems that Tom Hardy really wanted to get into the character of Max in the 2015 movie. In a newly launched book titled Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road, the story of how the 2015 movie came together to be has been described.

According to the book, the Peaky Blinders actor, Armie Hammer, and, Jeremy Renner were finalized for the role of Max. An excerpt from the book described what Hardy did to his colleague during the auditions that Hammer essentially backed out of the role and told director George Miller that Tom Hardy needed the role of Max more than he [Armie Hammer] needed.

“Hardy and Hammer even read together as part of their audition, and when Hardy gnashed his teeth and spat at his scene partner, Hammer told Miller that Hardy needed to be Max more than he did.”

A cameraman present at the scene told Kyle Buchanan [The author of the book] that there was such an intensity to the Bane actor that was unmatched by any other actors.

“He had that kind of suppressed emotional dryness that you’d find in a post-apocalypse and, buried underneath it, disdain for the world. There was this intensity that burned through the lens.”

Finally, George Miller agreed with the words of intensity and hired Tom Hardy in the lead role of the movie. Although it turned out to be a huge success, director George Miller was also considering the American rapper Eminem to star in the lead role of the 2015 movie!

As weird as it sounds, director George Miller stated that long before Hardy ever auditioned for the role of Max, American rapper Eminem was considered for the lead role. As per the director, a talk occurred with Eminem’s 8 Mile co-star Brittany Murphy and she had no problems casting the rapper in the lead role.

Miller stated that he talked to Eminem regarding the role but “that’s as far as it went because we were going to shoot in Australia at that point, and he simply didn’t want to leave home”. He further added, “I think he had the impression that if he could do it out of his home state, then he’d be up for it.”

With a high rating of 8.1/10 on IMDB and 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron is available to stream on Direct TV.
