In a past interview, the Pulp Fiction star revealed that during his time attending Atlanta’s Morehouse College, the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. took place, which sent him into a rage since he realized bringing a significant change in the civil rights of the country would require something more impactful and drastic. Therefore, in 1969, Jackson, along with some of his peers, took Martin Luther King Sr. as well as the college’s board of trustees hostage.
Therefore, the college had to accept some of the demands they made, but as a result, the star was expelled from the institution. Then, by a twist of fate, Jackson was contacted by his mother, telling him to accept assistance from the FBI. In the interview, he said:
“But then one day, my mom showed up and put me on a plane to L.A. She said, ‘Do not come back to Atlanta.’ The FBI had been to the house and told her that if I didn’t get out of Atlanta, there was a good possibility I’d be dead within a year. She freaked out.”
Therefore, he had to spend two years of his life in Los Angeles under the protection of the feds. Later, he returned to Morehouse College to get his Major in drama, which set him on the path to becoming one of the biggest and most influential names in cinema history.
