Like Jackie Chan, who decided his son won’t be reaping any of his father’s monetary benefits because he’d rather the latter make a life of his own than splurge on daddy’s money.

Jackie Chan’s Son Won’t be Inheriting His Fortune
After having been a part of the film industry since the ’60s and partaking in roughly 150 films, it’s no surprise that Jackie Chan is sitting on a booming net worth of anywhere from $350-400 million. But what is hard to digest is the fact that the action legend’s son won’t be able to enjoy any of those funds thanks to Chan’s unwavering resolve.
Chan, 69, who has two children, Jaycee, 40, and Etta Ng Chok Lam, 23, doesn’t seem to be planning on leaving a single penny out of his staggering wealth for either of them, albeit he has been estranged from his daughter for quite a while now. And as it turns out, the Rush Hour star arrived at this decision years ago, when he told NewsAsia in 2011 that he’d rather donate all his money to charity than leave it at the mercy of his son.
“If he is capable, he can make his own money. If he is not, then he will just be wasting my money.”
Imagine being the son of one of the most eminent martial arts icons and a legendary actor with a $400 million fortune and still being practically penniless. Fate definitely has a twisted sense of humor.
When Jaycee Chan Went to Prison for Drug Possession
The turbulent nature of Chan’s relationship with his children, especially Jaycee, has been well-documented over the years. From the classic silent treatment to implacable disputes, the father and son have been through years of hostility toward each other. And things only escalated when Jaycee got arrested after being caught with marijuana.
Back in 2014, when The Karate Kid star served as the anti-drug ambassador for China, Jaycee, who is a singer and actor, was sent to jail on drug charges where he spent six long months. But alas, there was still hope left for the two, who eventually settled their differences. After the Mulan star spent time behind bars, Chan took accountability for his behavior and reflected on his own past mistakes –
“I would like to take this opportunity and say to Jaycee: you’ve done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences. I’m your dad and I’ll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together.”
And well, the rest is history.
