Nobody would have predicted that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s love affair would end so fast when they were still blissfully married. But the pair eventually announced the split in 2005.
Brad then headed towards Jolie after splitting from Aniston to begin a brand-new, more fulfilling life.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were once believed to be Hollywood’s power couple. And though their breakup was said to be amicable, it was widely publicized and very heavily scrutinized. From their courtship and the building of their rainbow family to their divorce and persistent custody dispute, it would be safe to say that ‘Brangelina’ have seen it all.
Two years of marriage and six kids later, Jolie filed for divorce in 2016
On September 20, 2016, news that Jolie had filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage shocked and upset fans all around the world. In her declaration, Angelina Jolie cited irreconcilable differences, and at the time, Robert Offer, an attorney representing the actress, told the Associated Press that the choice had been taken “for the health of the family.“
Additionally, she requested physical custody of their children, including 14-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, as well as Maddox, 21, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, and 17-year-old Pax. In his response to Jolie’s divorce filing, Pitt requested shared legal and physical custody of their six children in November of the same year.
Due to a contentious custody dispute, there has since been nothing but a deliberate separation between the two, even if things recently look to have calmed down. The two Hollywood A-listers, 59-year-old Pitt, and 48-year-old Jolie are still caught in the storm that was their split in 2016—from their legal battle to everything post-split for almost 7 years now.
Following Jolie’s divorce petition, news broke that Brad Pitt was being looked into for possible child abuse, since their son, Maddox, apparently intervened in his parents’ argument on a trip back from Europe. It was “totally a child-parent disagreement,” a source told the folks at ET at the time, and any allegations of excessive physical behavior are “exaggerated or untrue.” The Department of Child and Family Services exonerated Pitt of child abuse claims by November 2016. At the time, a source claimed that “it wasn’t clearly established that there was any abuse by Pitt.“
Almost 7 years later, the battle is still ongoing
Angelina Jolie, still furious with Brad Pitt for ruining their marriage, has vowed to continue her battle against him. A source who spoke to the folks at RadarOnline claimed that against the wishes of their children, Jolie has refused to settle her legal dispute with her ex-husband. The Hollywood star, however, has no intention of stopping, because, according to the insider, she wants “payback” from Pitt for ending their almost 14-year romance.
The source revealed that “the war is far from over.” “Angie can’t help herself. She still wants payback for Brad’s part in ruining their marriage.”
“Meanwhile, he has become much more sober and rational about where they both went wrong, so he is no longer willing to back down.” They continued, “He’s had enough and won’t just give up and give Angelina what she wants.”
Since their divorce, the former spouses have been battling it out legally for the custody of their children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne. However, the older three children are now of legal age.
